Out there...
Morre...out there.

A few days ago I got an e-mail from a guy named Igor who is in a band called Morre out of Toronto.
My first thought was “Cool – the last several bands out of Canada that I have listened to have really been good.” I don't know what's going on over there, but as I sit here in central Sweden, Canada is rising fast on my list of places to visit.
Morre is a 4 piece with a throw back to the old guitar bands of yesterday. What I mean is that in their band they have two guys who could easily play lead in any band they choose. What makes these guys special is how well they work together. Throw into the mix a drummer who simply smokes and a very solid bass player and you have the makings of what could become a super group.
These guys are a musicians' band. Their stuff is extremely well thought out and complicated enough to keep every musician in the crowd riveted. Personally as an old drummer, I want to see them play live just so I can watch Tyler Koch do his thing. Think John Bonham – Ginger Baker and you get the idea. Tyler is a lead drummer. When you combine that with the Brian May – Jeff Beck like guitar and the right on bass line you have something magical.
The only down side is the vocals. Don't get me wrong they sound good – the dudes can sing. Its just that I kept waiting for the bad ass front man to appear and he never did. The only thing that would make this band better would be to find a front man who has the attitude and charisma that can keep up with the band musically every step of the way. I'm a sucker for a good rock show. Try to imagine Zeppelin without Robert Plant or Queen without Freddie or Van Halen without Diamond Dave – on second thought don't do that – I can't stand Sammy Hagar but that is another story. You get the idea.
All in all would I recommend this album. Yes. Would I go see them live? In a heart beat.
Check out their My Space page and give a listen to what they are doing.
Grouch Rating 4 scowls out of 5. Well done guys!
