A while back I got an e-mail suggesting that I give a listen to a Fusion Jazz band called Burkhard Mahler. His website is at www.burkhardmahler.de
I downloaded his album and thought why not give it a listen. I'm not really into Jazz, but I didn't give Country much of a thought until I heard Hank III. (Hank blew me away and I can now say that I am a fan.)

Unfortunately I still don't like Jazz. How can I put this? While the individual players on the album may be good, as a whole this album sucks. It got on my nerves more than anything I've heard in a long long time.
If you like noise, by noise I mean the kind of music in which everyone in the band seems to be grooving in an intellectually hip fashion that in reality sounds like the Grateful Dead tuning their instruments while in the throws of a bad acid trip, then you may dig Burkhard.
I don't like the music and I really don't like the vocals. It's winter and the days are long / Are you shy or a tease? Its just all soooooo deep – I think that the Emperor has no clothes...
I had an idea of what to expect when I read in the press release that “In 2009 there has been published a club-mix of The Fusion Rap called Fusions Eleven and the new album The New Creatures-Jim Morrison(Doors) Poetry Slam is going to be online  approx. second half of November 2009.”
Enough said. I can't stand that “Jim Morrison was a POET, bra” crap. He was a stoner who died almost 40 years ago. The Doors did some cool stuff when they were young but give it a break already.
I give Burkhard Mahler a resounding thumbs down and an entry on the Albums That Suck page.
