Check these guys out at their My Space page or at their website littlefootlongfoot.com.
Back on May 8 I received an email from Little Foot Long Foot. Their press kit says the usual yada yada,
After charting on college radio, making a couple of best of 2008 lists, and barrelling through the East Coast to wide acclaim, LFLF have recorded a new full length album, Harsh Words, recorded at the gloriously analogue Chemical Sound Studio (Tokyo Police Club, Death From Above 1979). Meanwhile, they have built up a reputation as 'the next awesome Toronto two-piece'.
Funny how a press release never reads "the next so-so band to jump on the two-piece band wagon". In this case however such an understated blurb would do disservice to the band. These guys are good. They made the Grouch smile and not just because this chick is hot - more importantly she can also sing well and make her guitar scream.
What's not to love?

June Bug from the album Harsh Words - is this really a two piece? They make a lot of noise for just two people. Starting with the drums, good job dude - Meg from the White Stripes can learn a lot from this guy. Did I mention that I really dislike the White Stripes? This song is an "Anti-Stripe" to say the least. The guitar ROCKS and the drums pound, but the best thing is her voice coupled with the raunchy guitar. I love her voice! If Jena Peri sounded like this she wouldn't have ended up on the albums that suck page.
King Hipster from the album Harsh Words - Her voice kills on this track. The ripping guitar combined with her soulful voice brings a huge smile to my mug. This woman is a bad ass rocker with a voice that oozes grit and soul. Well done! What is going on in Canada? Including Little Foot Long Foot the last three bands from north of the border have rocked hard! The Canucks are tearing it up - they must have some magic water up there.
The ripping guitar continues with Two Towns Over - this is a Rock band on the road song. They talk about pulling into St. John's. (That is in Newfoundland, kids - side note - my sister was born there.) All in all this is a good song. The guitar is loud and rocking while the drums groove - the highlight is however, her voice. I'd swear she is out of Detroit.
Track four from the album Harsh Words is Fake Cowboys - We slow it up here for a bit of blues. I have no idea what she is singing except she seems pissed at Cowboy posers and all of the "BS" in her words, that goes along with Fake Cowboys. I bet they put on a killer show. Her voice makes the simplest of jams come alive. I'm in love ;-) Gritty guitar and a killer voice that snarls attitude - well done.
The next track is from 2008 and called Declaration from the EP Just About Broke - this one starts out a bit lame then that trademark grit comes out and saves the day. A good song, but not the strongest track on the album. I could use more lightening on this track - the guitar sounds good, but there is no punch.
Ego Song also from Just About Broke - comes in like a blazing punk rock sonic blast. I love this song. Its a massive assault of pent up emotion that all comes out in a 4/4 spasmodic burst of energy. Just when you think you have the song pegged, they go into a change that leads into a mellow bluesy groove that lasts just long enough for the drummer to yell out the count which takes us back to the freshly burst punk rock dam.
The Ballad of Ryan Malcolm - has a pissed off Stones vibe to it. The music is good. I really like the drums and the guitar is gritty in all the right ways. Her vocals blow me away as she asks the question "Am I too fancy for you?" I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds good.

Based on these tracks I DIG these guys. Grouch rating 4 scowls out of 5. Check out their website for tour dates. I have a feeling that it will be well worth the price of admission.
