The Grouchy Gaijin's Thoughts on Music and Such

So I was riding pretty high so to speak, the last two submissions had been great.  Both Canadian groups that rock hard, but in different styles.

Check out Automan.ca and The Unraveling - its worth a look.

Then I received this submission:

my name is Demi and I am an up-and-coming a pop rock   singer/songwriter.
I have an EP out and performance experience (Im also a model).
I am a  dedicated performer and offer the total package:
vocal talent, creative writing,  and professionalism

I left her professional writing style unedited.  I was really happy to know that she is a dedicated performer who offers the total package.  She is EVEN a model.  WOW.

OK, I'll bite, I'll listen to her stuff half wondering if this was a joke.  It isn't.

Let's run down the list quickly shall we and put this behind us so we can both move on to better things.

1.  The music sucks.

2. A singer needs to sing - in tune - and simply speaking is not really singing.

3.  The words are childish - each phrase does not need to rhyme.

4.  The arrogance factor needs to go. We are the hot girls of the USA / We make up all the rules/ We do it our way/ We can do what we want when the mood is right/ Put up your paws because this is a cat fight/

While the Gore Gore Girls might be able to pull off lyrics like this they also have the power of the Gretsch to back them up.  Listen to the Gore Gore Girls and tell me women can't rock.  That chick can make her guitar scream.  Demi however is simply annoying.

I know you are thinking c'mon Grouch tell us how you really feel.  If this EP were all there was to listen to in the world, deafness would be a good thing.

Grouch rating - 0 - I find nothing of value here at all.
